More problems with my Toyota sewing machine?
I have fully cleaned the inside of the machine for the bobbin, but before actulaly sewing I thought it would be best to turn the handwheel a few times. When I did this, it made a suspicious clunking sound and felt quite "stuck" at one point, which led me to believe that there's probably something wrong with the inside. Can I do anything at home, or is it not worth the chance? Would it be better just to call a specialist later in the week?
I take it you've had a thread jam or similar happen... correct me if I'm wrong. Did you pull the needleplate and clean around the feed dogs, too?
Take out the bobbin (and bobbin case if it's a removeable case) and reset them. Still feel the clunk and hesitation when you use the handwheel? Take them back out and see if it's improved. Take out the needle and try one more time.
If it hasn't improved, it's probably ready for the sewing machine doc... it could be a number of issues, depending on the machine.
By chance, do you happen to have a couple of kinds of bobbins around? Could you be putting in the wrong style of bobbin (class 15s look a whole lot like class 66, etc.)
